Have you ever thought of trying bivvying out? Here are four reasons why you should.
1) It connects you with nature
What better way to get in touch with nature than spending the night in the wilderness? While wild camping is a great way to sleep outdoors in remote places, by bivvying under the sky, in the middle of the woods, on top of a mountain, or on a sea cliff, you will feel truly connected with the wild world around you. Away from everything, you will be able to hear the sounds of nature and see nocturnal wildlife.
2) You’ll see sunset and dawn while warm and comfy
While I love watching the sunrise and go down, sometimes I just can’t face the thought of how cold it is outside or the early rise. When bivvying, you will be able to see both sunset and dawn in the space of a few hours, comfortably lying down in your toasty sleeping bag. There really is no better way to do this than bivvying.
3) It’s a great way to do stargazing
Unless you choose a cloudy night to get out bivvying, you are bound to see some amazing stars in the sky. Falling asleep while chatting and admiring the Ursa Major is a fantastic end to a day spent outdoors. Don’t forget to install a stargazing app on your phone before you set off on your adventure.
4) You’ll escape everyday life
Being away from civilization, with no phone signal or Netflix, you will forget your daily troubles and enjoy a stress-free but significant evening. You may even get stuck into deep and meaningful conversations, talking about fun memories and plans for the future.
Bivvying is such a cheap and easy thing to do; you have no excuse for not trying it out. And you don’t need to take two whole days away from home. You can go on a micro-adventure on a weeknight – just look for a hill close to where you live or work and walk up to it before sunset. It will be a great way to recharge before you start another busy day at work.
