Off to the mountains for a long hike? Don’t forget your trail mix! There is nothing better than a homemade trail mix when you’re on the trail. There are plenty of good mixes out there. But if you make your own, you can decide exactly what ingredients to use and how much of each. That’s pretty exciting for someone who isn’t a big fan of raisins, like me.
Prep 5 minutes
- 60g dry coconut shavings
- 60g Brazil nuts
- 80g peanuts
- 50g dates
- You can amend the proportion of ingredients according to your liking.
- Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
- Store in a dry container, such as a Tupperware or a sealable bag.
If you don’t like dates, swap them with raisins or sultanas. This mix would also work well with dry bananas.
The trail mix will last you for weeks, even months, so it’s perfect for long hiking trips, but also as a protein-filled snack to keep on your desk at work.
