Monkey Fist Climbing is a new British brand specializing, for now, in handmade skincare products. They launched in late 2014 as a vegan-friendly brand with four main products.
I had the pleasure to receive two of their products for review – the banana scented Tip Stick and the 1oz Balm.
£6.10 for the Tip Stick
£9 for the Balm
“Tip Stick is the intelligent zero wastage balm in the Monkey Fist family. Tip Stick helps to deliver Monkey Fist right where it is needed, quickly, efficiently, wherever you are whenever it is needed. ‘Tip Stick reduces any waste and allows fingertips or toes to be treated without treating the whole hand or foot.”
“These 1oz balms pack all the skin healing punch needed to get you back to doing what you love. They are vegan friendly and come in an all-natural form and a banana scented form.”
What I really like about Monkey Fist is that they make their products with natural ingredients suitable for vegans. Both the Tip Stick and 1oz Balm are made using aloe butter, candelilla wax, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, and soybean vitamin E. You can read up about these here.
It isn’t until you rub Monkey Fist on your skin that they release their lovely scent. Once you warm them up with your hands, you can really smell them.
I have used Tip Stick and the balm to soothe my skin after long climbing sessions. They both have proved very good. They helped split fingertips and abrasions heal fast but also kept my skin hydrated and in good condition. I have noticed much less peeling around the fingertips since using them.
I’ve used the balm for bigger areas, like my hands, and the stick for smaller abrasions and cuts – usually on the top of my toes or the back of my hands. I have also tested the stick on some scratches on my elbow (I’m a clumsy climber sometimes!), and it worked perfectly fine there too.
I’ve absolutely loved Tip Stick and the balm. Not only are they made of all-natural vegan-friendly ingredients, but they are also very effective. I’d say that Monkey Fist is the Lush of the climbing world.
*I was sent a sample of Monkey Fist products for review. However, the opinion expressed in the post is impartial, and I endorse the products only because I believe they are good.
